Mr. Joel Mulder is the Senior Director of Business Development for G4S Technology LLC. Joel has been in the communications industry for over 30 years having worked at Motorola, NEC America and Northern Telecom prior to G4S. For the past 20 years, he has worked with multiple entities to design, construct, operate and maintain both wireless and fiber networks in all areas of the country. Many of these networks have been public/private partnerships that enabled rural areas to receive advanced communications services on an open access basis.
His background includes working with middle mile networks such as the Iowa Communications Network, Mid-Atlantic Broadband Cooperative, Maryland Broadband Cooperative, MassBroadband 123 and the EAGLE-Net Alliance. In tele-health he has worked with the Rural Nebraska Healthcare Network, Health Information Exchange of Montana and the Illinois Rural HealthNet. Fiber to the home networks include the EPB of Chattanooga, Slic Networks in New York, UC2B in Champaign/Urbana, IL and LUS Fiber in Lafayette, LA.
Joel has spoken at a number of conferences discussing open-access fiber networks and the applications developed from implementing a communications backbone. G4S is a founding member of the FTTH (Fiber to the Home) Council. Joel is the company representative to the Council. He is the company representative to APCO (Assn. of Public Safety Communications) and UTC (Utilities Telecom Council) as well as serving as a Board Member for the Rural Telecommunications Congress. In 2010, he was appointed by Governor Pat Quinn to the Illinois Broadband Deployment Council.
Joel holds a Master's Degree in Education from South Dakota State University.
