David Post is Mayor Pro Tem of Salisbury, North Carolina which built its own broadband system called Fibrant more than ten years ago. Although Fibrant is a state-of-the-art enterprise that passes every house in the city and offers speeds of up to 10 gigs, it has faced challenges from the private sector providers and from state legislative action that prohibited growth after the system had been built. Resolving the financial burden on the city while retaining the best that Fibrant offers has been David’s primary focus since being elected to city council. David was trained as a CPA and lawyer and has a varied career in law, business consulting and operations, and government. Before running for city council, he had rescued a small business in bankruptcy, grew it 100-fold, was on the Inc.500/5000 list for six consecutive years, and sold it a few years ago. In addition to his city council work, he operates a pro bono legal clinic.
