Bruce Abraham

Senior Broadband Consultant,
ECC Technologies

With over 30 years in rural and urban economic development as well as real estate development, Bruce Abraham started and organized the North Georgia Network (NGN) which built 2,000 miles of fiber optic communications across north Georgia and now serves 7,000 community anchors and rural residents. As president of NGN, the first project awarded under the federal Broadband Technologies Opportunities Program, he presented the case for rural broadband to the US Congress Communications and Technology Committee and the Brookings Institute. He continues to enable community broadband now as Senior Broadband Consultant with ECC Technologies.

Before joining ECC, Bruce started Connect North Georgia as a regional broadband economic development agency, where he raised an additional $1.3 million beyond the initial $42 million investment in NGN. Prior to his technology-related work, Bruce started the Economic Development Department in Dekalb County, Georgia’s second largest county, where he organized the Dekalb Workforce Center and the Perimeter Community Improvement District.

In his earlier career in land development with Mobil Land and Duke Energy, Bruce specialized in developing community infrastructure and recruiting employers to the metro Atlanta area. As the Executive Director of the Lumpkin County Development Authority, which is an active industrial park developer, he organized and secured funding for the North Georgia Network, which was an initiative to bring higher-paying jobs to rural north Georgia.

As Senior Broadband Consultant with ECC Technologies, Bruce advises on community broadband project planning, design, management, and implementation. With offices in New York, North Carolina, Georgia, and California, ECC Technologies provides telecommunications services in the educational, corporate, government, public safety, and healthcare environments. ECC has developed and participated in over $1.5 billion in telecommunications projects worldwide.
