Nathan Davis

Ferry County, Vice Chairman and County Commissioner
State of Washington

Nathan Davis is a longstanding resident and current commissioner in Ferry County, located in remote corner of Northeast Washington. Commissioner Davis was elected at the same time as the local goldmine was closing and the local economy was in decline. His leadership and collaboration with the goldmine, Washington State Department of Commerce, and Washington State University led to a social exit strategy, which laid the foundation for current work with business revitalization. Currently, he has devoted his time to a technology project designed to integrate with the local economic development center to recruit and retain businesses. This project is known as Ferry County Sunrise and is focused on using technology to improve business revitalization. He has achieved collaboration with other counties to study and develop a potential demonstration network using wireless broadband opportunities. The plan is to illustrate what access to broadband in difficult and challenging terrain can do. The benefits include emergency management purposes to improve safety, community resilience, and preventing homelessness in the event of a natural disaster.
