Bing Edwards is a lawyer at E+Law in Birmingham, Alabama, a firm he founded in early 2017.  Prior to founding the new firm, Bing was a partner at the Birmingham firm Balch & Bingham for 18 years.  These days, Bing spends most of his professional time working on economic development deals, community initiatives, and tax policy matters.

Bing is the author of Alabama’s economic development laws, all of which he drafted or amended in 2015 and 2016.

Bing works with companies and communities to attract businesses to Alabama.  He works on economic development matters with clients including the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, Alabama Power Company, and the Birmingham Business Alliance.  Bing also advises the Alabama Military Stability Commission, which works to preserve and expand the missions of Alabama’s military bases.

In 2002 and 2003, Bing served as counsel to the City of Montgomery, Alabama in negotiating the agreement to have the Biscuits AA baseball team move to the city.  In 2012 and 2013, Bing played the same role with the City of Birmingham when the Barons AA baseball team relocated to a new downtown stadium.

Bing is a graduate of Vanderbilt University.  He received his law degree at the University of Alabama and a Masters in Tax Law at the New York University School of Law.  Bing is a graduate of Leadership Alabama, Leadership Birmingham, Leadership UAB, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizen’s Academy (Birmingham Division).  He is past chair of the Alabama State Bar Section on Taxation and the Birmingham Bar Business Law Section.

Bing recently joined the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and he is busy helping them with their recent designation as a National Historic Monument.
