Dr. Giger is an Assistant Professor leading community-based participatory research/scholarship in the Department of Social Work at the University of South Dakota (USD), School of Health Sciences. He received his doctoral training the University of Missouri (MU), School of Social Work, and the interdisciplinary MU Center for Eldercare and Rehabilitation Technology (CERT). Dr. Giger’s research agenda has two tracks. His first track relates to technology use and acceptance among at-risk populations, whereas his second track relates to subjective well-being and satisfaction with life. His current research--with The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and the AARP--investigates low income rural older adult iPad readiness and acceptance. Working in Illinois, Missouri and South Dakota, as well as on projects with tribal, national and state organizations as a community-based participatory researcher and consultant, Dr. Giger has over 13 years of private-public experience collaborating with a wide array of individuals, organizations, stakeholders, and technologies.
