Herrera manages a $20-million cable fund; enforces cable franchise agreements with Comcast, RCN and Verizon; coordinates public, education and government cable access television production outcomes through the WatchLocalTV. org Network; manages resources for FiberNet, a county-operated data, video and voice fiber network; provides legislative expertise related to broadband, cable television, video, telecommunications tax, right-of-way management, satellite television, gateway and navigation set-top devices, smart power and smart pole broadband-green energy and consumer protection issues, including state and federal legislation and regulatory issues; manages a staff of 17; and supports the goals and objectives of the county executive, County Council, and senior management team.
