Assistant Commissioner for Water and Rural Affairs

Dan Hunter was appointed as Assistant Commissioner for Water and Rural Affairs as one of the State’s top advisors for water conservation and safety.Texas Agriculture, the largest user of water in the state, is essential to Texas, the local economy, and quality of life for Texas. Mr. Hunter has a background in working with national constituencies, including federal agencies, Congress, and producer and consumer organizations. Under his leadership, TIAER has become a leader in the field of water and environmental research around the globe. Under Hunter’s leadership his former organization, TIAER, has water conservation and water quality projects in every continent, except Antarctica. In addition, Mr. Hunter will bring the State’s perspective of the rural and farmland needs for technology and communications to help manage our natural resources and connect this important element of American life with the rest of the state, country and world.
