Max is a pioneer in the development of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband networks. In 2001 he formed OpenBand, one of the nation�s first FTTH service provider and developed several of the nation�s first fiber optic infrastructure communities in northern Virginia. In August 2003 he established a full service communications consulting firm with an emphasis on educating master plan developers on the benefits of installing FTTH networks. More recently Kipfer has worked for two FTTH service providers as EVP - Business Operations at Capitol Broadband and now with Hotwire Communications as their VP � Client Relations. Kipfer�s FTTH career started after a successful 25-year executive career in the cable television industry.
Kipfer has been a regular speaker at FTTH & telecommunication industry conferences and has briefed federal policymakers in Washington, DC on the benefits and capabilities of FTTH broadband networks. He is a former member and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the FTTH Council of NA.
Max is a 1979 graduate of Valparaiso University with a BA in Journalism.
