Trevor C Lane is an Assistant Professor of Community & Economic Development at Washington State University (WSU) Extension located in Ferry County, a remote rural location. Professor Lane’s leadership in community and economic development centers around rural issues with a focus on small business, technology, tourism, and agricultural programming. Professor Lane has recently received the National Achievement Award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA) and will be presenting in June 2018 at the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP) about his research and work in rural communities. In October 2017, Professor Lane presented internationally about rural tourism, strategic planning, and technology. He has also received State and National awards and recognition for innovative technology leveraging machine learning, CRM platforms, and video production. He has achieved collaboration on more than $1.5M in state and federal funding, as well. Professor Lane is the co-founder of the Community Intelligence Lab (CIL), a rural community think-tank that combines open data, machine learning, and science and citizen inquiry to address rural problems. He is currently a doctoral candidate and slated to graduate in May 2018.
