Laurel has served as the Operations Branch Chief for the Policy and Outreach Division of the Rural Utilities Service since July of 2014. Laurel works with the RUS telecommunications loan and grant programs, which provide low cost loans and grants to extend broadband infrastructure into rural areas. Her primary focus is on program policy and oversight, outreach activities, legislative and regulatory changes, IT systems maintenance and development, program reporting and the loan workouts and collections. Before transitioning into the Policy and Outreach Division, Laurel served as the Deputy Director of the Broadband Division since August of 2010, overseeing the Farm Bill Broadband Loan Program, Community Connect Grant Program and Broadband Initiatives Program. Prior to joining the Rural Utilities Service, Laurel spent five years with a small private healthcare firm in Kansas City as a Recruiter and Assistant Business Manager. Laurel has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Economics from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
