Hugh Miller

Hugh Miller currently runs a CIO and Broadband consulting company and is serving as the CIO for Visit San Antonio (VSA), San Antonio Museum of Art, and Eva Longoria’s non-profit organization Eva’s Heroes. Hugh is also helping a few startups in the San Antonio area with his leadership and technical skills and has been consulting for communication and broadband providers. He has recently assisted in the design and implementation of the Small Cell ordinance that established guidelines for deploying small cell antennae in the City of Austin. 

Hugh served as the CIO & CTO for the City of San Antonio from 2004 through 2016 and was responsible for technology leadership, innovation, transformation, and technology support throughout San Antonio. He pioneered and supported a fiber network throughout San Antonio for government services and oversaw the design and management of the San Antonio Regional Public Safety Radio System. He helped San Antonio become one of the first 13 cities to get authorization from the FCC to use the Public Safety 700MHz frequencies and led the negotiating and contracting process for small cell deployments in San Antonio. Hugh also deployed public award-winning municipal wireless services at several city parks, all libraries, airports, and most public facilities throughout San Antonio. He was instrumental in bringing Google Fiber to San Antonio which changed the landscape for broadband services in the San Antonio area and began attracting new businesses to the area. Hugh also had tenure at, Regan Holding Corp, and the San Antonio Water System in his career. He has spent over 25 years of his career performing technology leadership in several industries throughout the country, including dot-com, insurance, utility, and retail. 

Hugh has also been honored as Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader for 2008, IT Leader of the Year in 2013, and SA Business Journals 2015 Tech Titan as Top Tech Executive and has been a featured speaker at more than a hundred conferences.
