James Motley

James Motley is the VP of Engineering at IOTAS, where he manages a team focused on solving the myriad of problems related to IoT and home automation. James is a skilled technologist with more than 20 years of experience at both large and small companies (Intel, Nike, Cigna), and has worked on a wide variety of technologies ranging from encryption to genetics to mobile apps.

He is an avid home automation hobbyist and Lego robot designer and spends much of his time sharing his passion for programming and design with people of all ages through the FIRST robotics program and various tech/maker clubs at local schools. James has spoken at numerous conferences on topics ranging from innovation in health-care to screen-less mobile experiences. When he’s not writing code or building gadgets, James enjoys riding his bike, traveling and spending time with his family.
