Mr. Luis Reyes, Jr. has been Chief Executive Officer and General Manager at Kit Carson Electric since 1993. Mr. Reyes began his work with Kit Carson Electric in 1984 as a System Engineer. He has served as Chairman and Director of National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative as well as many other national and state Boards.
Kit Carson was awarded a $64 million loan/grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA) stimulus funding for a FTTH Project. The project is expected to p about 3,000 square miles of New Mexico and will integrate smart grid technology in addition to high speed broadband and telecommunications to rural communities. Kit Carson “fiber-to-home” project will allow greater bandwidth, providing the quality necessary for applications such as telemedicine, teleconferencing and video sharing for education, business and entertainment. Two Native American pueblos will also receive broadband service once the project is complete.
