Mesch has established, grown and sold fiber companies across five European countries during his 35 years of telecom and network deployment experience. After founding Esat Telecom in Ireland, he helped found Versatel Telecom NV, rolling it out across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. He founded CityFibre in January 2011 and as its CEO, has raised more than £1.6 billion in capital, completed five acquisitions and established full fiber infrastructure projects in more than 50 towns and cities across the UK. In 2018, a group led by Goldman Sachs and Antin took CityFibre private and has subsequently announced a £2.5 billion investment program to establish it as the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform across more than 20% of the UK market. Mesch has been awarded the Charles Kao Award from the Fibre To The Home Council, recognizing his huge contribution to the rollout of full fiber infrastructure across Europe.
