Dwight W. Thomas, Jr.

Director, Broadband & IT Services
City of Mont Belvieu – MB Link Broadband

Thomas' passion to interconnect people, places and things and his mission to connect the unconnected led him to the City of Mont Belvieu, Texas, where he oversees MB Link – Texas’ first municipally owned and operated fiber-optic broadband utility. For 20 years, Thomas had accumulated extensive experience planning, engineering, constructing and operating mission-critical networks for various vertical markets including oil and gas, manufacturing, government and telecommunications. Before joining the City of Mont Belvieu, he had served as a technical lead for a systems integrator in Irvine, Calif., managing a team of consultants and engineering telecom solutions for one of the largest hard disk drive manufacturers in the world. Previously, he was the technical lead for one of the largest midstream companies in the U.S. and Canada, providing telecom solutions for its gas pipeline and processing facilities – both onshore and offshore. Thomas has a degree in computer information systems from Lamar University and holds many recognized industry certifications including Certified Fiber-to-the-Home Professional and Certified Telecommunications Subject Matter Expert. He currently serves as a CompTIA Subject Matter Expert (SME) and is a member of the CompTIA SME Technical Advisory Committee (CSTAC), CompTIA Infrastructure Certifications Advisory Committee (ICAC), and the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE).
