Robert Worden

Executive Engagement Leader, Smart Cities and IoT
Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc.

Robert Worden leads Fujitsu’s Smart Cities/Internet of Things (IoT) efforts in North America. Bringing 25 years of telecom leadership to this role, Robert’s charter is to digitally transform the operations of municipalities, state and local governments, utility and transportation operations in the US and Canada. Prior to this role, Robert led Fujitsu’s participation in building and operating the first P3 broadband network in the United States: Kentuckywired.

Holding undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Calgary and the University of Leeds, Robert rose quickly through the ranks in his early career to lead global consulting and research operations with Frost & Sullivan during the Silicon Valley boom. There he led consultants worldwide, charting strategies for companies seeking niches in the memory and integrated circuits markets. During the bulk of Robert’s telecom career, he led product, marketing, sales, and finance teams for both LEC and CLEC companies across the western United States. More recently, Robert returned to technology consulting at Frost & Sullivan, providing the C-suite with keen insights on Smart Connectivity, the Internet of Things, and Big Data, producing over 30 published papers on these subjects.

Robert has served on various CalCom committees and two California community college foundation boards. A thought leader in the digital and telecom space, Robert has been an invited speaker to the Utilities Telecom Council (UTC), Next Century Cities, National Telephone Cooperative Association (NTCA), United States Telecom Association (USTelecom), Cellular Telephone Industry Association (CTIA) and IBM Data Analytics events.
