Kirk Burgee is the chief of staff of the FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau. In his work for the bureau, Burgee is involved in matters related to broadband deployment, including broadband deployment funding, data mapping and interagency coordination of broadband programs. He is also a deputy director of the FCC’s Rural Broadband Auctions Task Force, which is tasked with implementing FCC auctions to allocate universal service support for broadband deployment in unserved areas, including the Connect America Phase II Auction and the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund Phase I Auction. Prior to joining the FCC in 2005, Burgee practiced telecommunications law in the private sector in Washington, D.C.
