Angela Imming is the director of technology and innovation and GM of Highland Communication Services at the City of Highland, Ill., one of very few municipally owned fiber to the premise networks and the only in the St. Louis region that offers synchronous speeds. HCS serves three global corporations, 318 businesses and almost 2,700 residents.
What began 25 years ago with certifications in the entire suite of Nortel Networks voice and data telecommunications products has resulted in Imming being responsible for networks on four different continents. She has imagined and deployed next generation solutions for such fortune 500 companies as Emerson Electric and Peabody Energy and led global telecommunications for the former ISP powerhouse Savvis Communications.
Imming graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a degree in sociology and journalism and went on to receive, summa cum laude, a master’s in public administration and policy analysis. She serves on the SIUE CMIS Executive Advisory Board and is the secretary of the Highland Rotary. She has been married for 27 years and has three children. Her son is in the U.S. Coast Guard and provides IT services for the Joint Intelligence Command Center in Washington. Her daughter is a sophomore at SIUE studying political science and journalism and her youngest will attending Logan School of Chiropractic in the fall. Imming is glad to now focus on moving her Highland, her hometown community, through the digital transformation.
