Brent Legg, executive vice president of government affairs for Connected Nation, leads the nonprofit’s federal and state advocacy efforts to advance policies that improve broadband access, reduce costs, and promote competition. Legg has more than 18 years of experience working at the intersection of technology, politics, and public policy, with a specialized focus on the topics of broadband mapping, network interconnection, and school connectivity. He has provided testimony before the U.S. Congress and the legislatures of 14 states, and has authored dozens of regulatory filings and reports, including the State of Alaska’s broadband plan and broadband task force report. Prior to joining Connected Nation in 2007, Legg served on staff with a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He’d previously served as a policy adviser and legislative liaison to the governor of Kentucky and secretary of education. Legg is a magna cum laude graduate of Transylvania University with a degree in political science and was a 2002 Hansard Scholar at the London School of Economics. He resides in Lexington, Ken., with his wife, Brianna, and three children.
