Eric Broughton

Chief Executive Officer
OK2Charge

Eric Broughton is Chief Executive Officer at OK2Charge, an innovative platform bringing EV charging to real estate owners and operators in an economically sensible and environmentally responsible manner. OKCharge delivers EV charging access where people live, work and vacation by creating a renewable revenue amenity.

Broughton is also an active angel investor, adviser, movie producer, mentor, and requested speaker. To date, he has led the exits of three successful SaaS (Software as a Service) startups to public companies. Broughton began his professional career with internships at BEHR Heat Transfer and General Chemical. He “went pro” with Cargill Steel (NSSAZ), establishing himself as an entrepreneurial leader and innovator to co-create a transformative manufacturing execution system and an energy retail platform. He then took his technology skills to Chicago with an Oracle consulting firm (TUSC), where he became the youngest senior manager with projects at Northern Trust, ArcaEx (NYSE), M&M/Mars, Levy Restaurants, and more. He also taught data modeling and SQL classes at University of Illinois. Next was IT Convergence, leading the managed services practice with development teams in China, Argentina, the Philippines, and throughout the United States. While at IT Convergence he also became president of Chicago’s Oracle Users Group.

His entrepreneurial path began when he co-founded Yield Technologies and the products RentSentinel/RentSocial within Morgan Stanley Real Estate ($100B AUM). RealPage (NASDAQ: RP) acquired those products in 2013 and he quickly rose to be president of the LeaseStar division managing the rollup of five different acquisitions. His second exit to RealPage, eSupply Systems (FMC Portfolio), delivered spend management insight through purchasing control.

He then rejoined his RentSentinal co-founders to build ApartmentJet, which produced immediate value for the largest apartment owners and operators by generating risk mitigated revenue for vacant, furnished units. ApartmentJet was acquired in October 2018 by Expedia Group (NASDAQ: EXPE) where he was named general manager of the Multifamily Real Estate division.

Prior to taking the helm of OK2Charge, Broughton was chief strategy officer at InhabitIQ, where he led the residential, commercial, and vacation divisions. He was responsible for a P&L greater than $200M, led 800 employees and delivered with more than 20% annual growth at more than 35% of EBITDA margin. Broughton received his B.S. in electrical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, where he was an All-Conference running back, class president, and member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He received his MBA in technology management from the University of Phoenix and has taken executive program management coursework from Stanford University. In 2008, he was recognized as an Outstanding Recent Graduate by SDSM&T.

Broughton and his wife, Jennifer, have called Naperville, Ill., their home since 2000 and have raised three daughters there. He supports his local community by MC’ing events such as St. Baldricks, Angies Hope, and more while supporting Familes Helping Families. He remains active at his alma mater SD Mines through the Broughton Spark Award and Athletic Scholarship.
