William “Bill” Underhill has been leading the fiber to the premise deployment within the town of Sterling, Mass., since joining the Sterling Municipal Light Department in January of 2021. He has an extensive background in broadband gained through his 30 years in fiber design and deployment including his work in Austin, Texas, on one of the first municipal fiber deployments in the country and recently in Concord, Mass., where he was the network coordinator and an instrumental figure in the town’s fiber broadband deployment. His knowledge and experience helped Sterling begin its fiber deployment using expandable state of the art technology (XGS-PON).
