Elizabeth Walker has served the City of Brownsville as assistant city manager since April 2019. She has more than a decade of public service in local government, previously serving as the interim city manager, assistant city manager, and city secretary in Weslaco, Texas.
Walker holds a master’s in public policy and management from the University of London, England, credentials as a Texas registered municipal clerk and master registrar, and professional memberships in the Texas City Management Association and International Council of Shopping Centers.
Prior to her career in municipalities, she served as the executive vice Ppresident of the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, a regional chamber of commerce. A native of Boston, Walker arrived on the border as an AmeriCorps volunteer, drank the proverbial waters of the Rio Grande, and never left.
