Barry Walton, who serves as solutions architect for Corning Optical Communications, is in his 46th year in telecom. He joined Corning five years ago after 37 years at a Canadian telecom company where he championed the deployment of FTTH, providing the strategy and planning for over 130 communities. His expertise lies in business case creation, operations planning, large-scale network planning, reducing costs and deployment strategies for successful access network builds.
In his current role, Walton is focused on developing and implementing innovative solutions to reduce labor in deploying fiber to the home in rural communities. He has served a term on the North American Fiber to the Home Council board of directors and currently is an active member of the FBA technology committee. He has delivered numerous presentations on various aspects of FTTH at many national and regional conferences. He is highly respected by his peers with his extensive real-world experience and expertise in deploying FTTH networks.
