As the CEO of Myriad Capital, Greg Wilson has built a group of successful telecom infrastructure and software services companies that serve a large portion of the South African telecommunications market. These companies include Reflex Solutions, AEX | Automation Exchange, Open Fibre, Metrowatt, Net 99, and Fund X. In 2020, Myriad Capital entered the U.S. market with OPENFIBER USA in Matthews, N.C., and this year, began a global expansion of AEX | Automation Exchange in the United States. Wilson currently sits on the board of these companies and offers strategic support to their management teams.
As an accomplished entrepreneur, Wilson has an impressive track record of identifying emerging opportunities and quickly scaling successful businesses. In 2000, while studying finance, he started Reflex Solutions, now one of the largest ICT companies in South Africa, and one of the first companies to invest in fiber to help solve the country’s connectivity issues. Later, as the founder of AEX | Automation Exchange, he helped develop a best-in-class OSS/BSS software for open and closed access that is purpose-built by network operators for network operators. It is widely used in South Africa and serves as the backbone for most fiber network operators and ISPs in the country. Expanding globally, AEX is moving its operations, IP, and management team to the United States with a new headquarters in North Carolina.
Wilson’s expertise is in conceptualizing business opportunities, testing business models, establishing and motivating teams, and building dynamic products and services from the ground up. He thrives in the arenas of looking for competitive edges, understanding the technicalities, and proving that business models work. His continual success rests on his unique ability to both bootstrap business and understand capital structures, as well as making capital work. He lives with his wife and two children in Charlotte, N.C.
