Steve Rosenberg is currently the Acting Chief Data and Analytics Officer for the Federal Communications Commission. His focus is on improving the management of the data lifecycle, from data collection through analysis, use and dissemination, to inform the policy-making process. Prior to assuming this role, he was the Chief Data Officer for the Wireline Competition Bureau within the Federal Communications Commission, where he was heavily involved reforms to the Universal Service Fund, including oversight of the creation of the Connect America Cost Model, and the collection and publication of broadband data. Steve oversaw changes to the FCC’s Form 477 data collection adopted in 2013 and 2019; and led the effort to create the new National Broadband Map. Prior to joining the Commission in 2009 to work on the National Broadband Plan, Steve worked in the telecom practice at McKinsey & Company before working at The Advisory Board, serving not-for-profits in the healthcare and education sectors. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics from UCLA in 1999.
