As Chief Information Officer, Jon Walton is responsible for setting the technology vision and creating an innovative environment for the County of San Mateo. He brings 23 years of experience working in both the public and private sectors, including leadership positions at Unisys, the City of San Jose, and the City of San Francisco. Under his leadership, San Mateo County implemented a shared service P25 Motorola radio system, a hyper-converged SDN datacenter, a multi-jurisdictional high speed fiber network, SMC Public WiFi, and the County’s award winning Open Data Program. Additionally, San Mateo County was also the first California county to implement WorkDay HR & Payroll. Jon has won numerous awards for technology excellence and leadership, and he works with governments, NGOs, and communities to imagine new ways of delivering services and creating more collaborative government organizations.
