Outreach Coordinator – State, Tribal, Local, Territorial Governments
FirstNet
Kristi has been working as an advocate for public safety communications and coordination for more than 33 years. She is passionate about collaboration on all levels, working to maximize experience and resources for the benefit of the public we serve.
In her second career, she was hired as the Outreach Coordinator in late March 2013 to work on FirstNet outreach and advocacy for state, tribal, local and territorial governments – the first FirstNet employee. Kristi spent 31+ years, working in public safety communications. The last twenty were in management of a consolidated regional 9-1-1 communications center in Lane County Oregon. During that time, she witnessed the evolution of critical communications from pen, paper and tubes to 9-1-1 systems and digital land mobile radio systems capable of carrying data to and from first responders in the field. Kristi was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Oregon Statewide Interoperability Executive Council from its inception in 2002 through 2012, holding various positions until retiring as chair in December 2012. On a local level, she worked closely with others on a regional basis to coordinate and manage the build out of two regional radio systems and to expand emergency planning efforts to encompass multiple partners, both traditional and nontraditional.
Prior to coming to FirstNet, she worked a short stint as an associate with Emergency Services Consulting International.
Kristi is currently a senior member of APCO International, is a member of the APCO Broadband Committee, and remains active with Oregon APCO/NENA, serving on the Oregon APCO/NENA statewide Next Generation 9-1-1 Technical Committee. Kristi holds a bachelor’s degree in both sociology and psychology from the University of Oregon and still calls Eugene home.
