There is nothing like working nights under the dense tree cover of the Bavarian Black Forest in a the trailer of a 1954, 18-wheeler that served as the war room for a mobile nuclear missile battalion to help one understand the strategic indispensability of fixed wireless broadband. Thus, during the Cold War, did Tim Will's career in the field of broadband telecommunications commence over 45 years ago.

Fusing his Army acquired telecom skills with his community and economic development, political, educational, and agricultural toolkit with the community analysis and facilitation, non-profit administration and community empowerment expertise of the Catalpa Partners, Tim and his colleagues choose to work only on seemingly intractable problems – and occasionally get paid for it.

Currently focusing on several novel strategies within economically devastated Appalachia, Will and his team have won the Purpose Prize and Hewlitt Packard's Hackborn Award for the Use of Technology in Social.
