Dr. Rouzbeh Yassini is Executive Director of the Broadband Center of Excellence (BCoE) at the University of New Hampshire. He has gained an international reputation as a broadband visionary for his pioneering work in cable modem technology as the founder and CEO of LANcity and for his leadership in establishing cable modem industry standards through Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs), The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Rouzbeh is well known in industry circles as the “Father of the Cable Modem” and was named CED Magazine’s “1998 Man of the Year” and a CED Broadband 50 designate multiple times for his contributions to the multibillion-dollar cable broadband industry.

In recognition of his dedication and meaningful contributions to the broadband cable industry the National Cable & Telecommunications Association awarded Rouzbeh with a 2004 Vanguard Award, the organization’s highest honor. He was more recently inducted as a member of the Cable Television Pioneers - Class of 2012.

Rouzbeh is the author of Planet Broadband (Cisco Press), a humanized look at broadband technology, and is frequently interviewed and quoted in the press for his vision on the future of broadband.

Rouzbeh has served as a board member on a number of privately and publicly held companies, has served as a senior executive consultant with CableLabs, Comcast and Cablevision on numerous programs relating to broadband technologies and has been a member of the Liberty Global advisory Technology Board since 2001. Rouzbeh was also founder of the Yassini Broadband Knowledge Center in Boston, offering research grants and facilities to investigate fresh ideas in Broadband technologies.

Rouzbeh holds an Honorary Ph.D. in Science and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University, an Honorary Ph.D. from Merrimack College as well as an equivalent MBA from General Electric’s Financial Management Program.
