DALLAS – The City of Allen, Texas has selected Unite Private Networks (UPN), a provider of high-capacity, fiber-based communication networks, to provide a dark fiber ring connecting eight city buildings together via state-of-the-art infrastructure. UPN is also providing the City high speed internet connectivity.

UPN previously announced a network expansion in Allen that gives the business community a triple-path redundancy to Dallas, powered by a low-latency carrier-grade, 100 percent fiber-optic network.

Speeds Upgradable to 100 Gbps
“Our carrier-grade fiber-optic network infrastructure provides nearly unlimited bandwidth with speeds upgradable to 100 Gbps, which allows our services to easily and quickly expand as the needs of customers grow over time,” said Donnie Wood, regional sales director for UPN. “We provide a suite of products including Ethernet, wavelength services, Internet access, and dark fiber, and are looking forward to continuing to help local businesses meet their bandwidth needs in Allen.”

“Unite Private Networks has enabled us to connect fiber to city facilities that were significantly underserved with past carriers,” said Eric Matthews, director of information technology for the City of Allen. “In addition, we’ve been able to improve network resiliency at key locations such as water towers and fire stations to ensure critical city services remain connected.”
