Alpha's New DCX2000 Portable Generator Enhances Network Reliability

BELLINGHAM, WA - Alpha Technologies, worldwide power solutions provider, introduced the AlphaGen DCX2000 emergency backup portable generator for cable TV, broadband and telecommunications applications. Easily deployed in the event of planned or unplanned network power outages, the compact, lightweight DCX2000 generator is designed specifically to enhance reliability in networks where integrated generators are not a primary component of the power infrastructure.

AlphaGen DCX2000 Portable Backup Generator
"The DCX2000 enhances network reliability through easy deployment and by streamlining the way portable generators are connected to power supplies," noted Dale Schermerhorn, DCX2000 product manager. "By connecting directly to the batteries, the DCX2000 eliminates the need for transfer switches typically required for AC generators. Because no transfer switch is required, the power supply is able to transfer back to the utility grid as soon as power returns, giving operators more time to efficiently retrieve generators from the field. If batteries are not present, the DCX2000 can still provide network power by connecting directly to the power supply."

Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) Technology

Engineered for quiet operation, and to work seamlessly with Alpha power supplies and AlphaCell batteries, the DCX2000 is capable of generating 2000W of continuous power. The DCX2000 also incorporates several technological advantages, such as 36V permanent magnet generator (PMG) technology, allowing the generator to run only as fast as the load demands. As the load from battery charging diminishes, the generator runs slower thereby saving fuel and reducing engine wear. This represents a cost saving over conventional generators that must run at a constant RPM in order maintain 50 or 60Hz. Because the DC output is not compatible with household AC electronics, additional cost savings may be realized, as the DCX2000 it is less prone to theft.

Remote Monitoring Kit
Also new to the portable DC generator line up is an optional Remote Monitoring Kit. When combined with Alpha's latest status monitoring hardware, the new kit provides operators with the ability to remotely monitor the generator's connection and battery charging status. The Remote Monitoring Kit can be used with both the new DCX2000 and existing DCX3000s to monitor generators that have previously been deployed.

Other features of the DCX2000 include a large 1.7 gallon integrated fuel tank that provides up to 9 hours of runtime, convenient main panel with quick connector, output indicators and an easy to read LCD display.
