DALLAS - Alphion announced the launch of a compact, feature-rich, optical line terminal (OLT) that supports GPON technology over fiber-to-the-home networks. A compact OLT, which supports a relatively small number of users, can typically be deployed outside a telephone central office or headend and placed in a field cabinet closer to users.
Dr. Bharat P. Dave, chairman, president, and CEO of Alphion, explains that the AOLT-4200 platform was developed to meet diverse customer needs in the rapidly expanding FTTH market. He says, “At one end of the spectrum, it allows low-cost start-up entry for more cautious network providers offering traditional services. On the other end, it supports sophisticated distributed, high-availability networks that provide advanced services.”
