DALLAS — AT&T announced it is launching its GigaPower Internet service in the Los Angeles metro area. This brings speeds up to 1 Gbps to more homes, apartments and small businesses over the AT&T GigaPower network.
Following its December announcement of initial availability of AT&T GigaPower in the Los Angeles area, AT&T's GigaPower network has been made available to tens of thousands of locations. These include single family homes, thousands of apartments and small businesses in parts of Eastvale, Irvine, Los Angeles, Orange County and surrounding communities.
The company will continue to expand its 100 percent fiber AT&T GigaPower network to additional locations, tripling availability by the end of the year. Eventually, we plan to make our AT&T GigaPower presence in the Los Angeles area one of the largest in the country. Additional local communities where we are planning to bring AT&T GigaPower include Arcadia, Glendale and more.
GigaPower Features
AT&T GigaPower customers can access the latest Wi-Fi technology, making it possible to enjoy an improved in-home Wi-Fi experience, faster Wi-Fi speeds, expanded coverage and support for all devices. AT&T GigaPower Internet Premier offers Internet speeds up to 1 Gbps for as low as $110 a month or speeds up to 300 Mbps for as low as $80 a month.
Customers on the AT&T GigaPower network in the Los Angeles area may be able to choose between DIRECTV or U-verse TV services, as well as from a variety of single-, double- and triple-play offers to ensure they have the right combination of services to fit their needs.
GigaPower Expansion
AT&T launched its first AT&T GigaPower metro in Austin two years ago. That led to a major expansion in multiple U.S. metros beginning in 2014. In 2015 the company marked a major milestone deploying the AT&T GigaPower network to more than 1 million locations, and expects to more than double availability by the end of 2016.
AT&T GigaPower is available in 20 of the nation’s largest metros areas, and has announced plans to expand in parts of 36 additional metro areas, which will total at least 56 metros served. The company plans to continue to roll out GigaPower Internet services to reach more than 14 million residential and commercial locations. AT&T has invested more than $2 billion in its Los Angeles area wireless and wireline networks from 2012 through 2014, driving a wide range of upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.
