AT&T Launches Ultra-Fast Internet Speeds in the Greater Sacramento Area

SACRAMENTO — AT&T launched ultra-fast Internet service in the greater Sacramento area, in parts of Placer County (Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, and their surrounding communities). These communities are in addition to the parts of the Bay Area where gigabit service was initially launched in 2015, and expanded in parts of Fresno, Clovis, and other areas of the Central Valley in June. Customers in the area will be able to get speeds up to 1 Gbps in homes, apartments and small businesses.

“AT&T is committed to extending AT&T GigaPower throughout California because our customers are increasingly interacting with their world in more data-intensive ways,” said Ken McNeely, president, AT&T California. “A growing number of people are streaming content directly from their devices, and capturing what’s going on in their world with live videos. For these reasons, we are proud to now offer AT&T GigaPower in Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln and their surrounding communities.” AT&T has invested more than $7.25 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in California between 2013 through 2015. This drives upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.

“AT&T GigaPower will contribute to our growing economy and high quality of life in Placer County,” said Placer County Supervisor Uhler. “Access to high-speed Internet will help create new jobs, grow small businesses and improve access to educational opportunities.”

AT&T GigaPower
AT&T GigaPower offers Internet speeds up to 1 Gbps for as low as $90 a month. AT&T GigaPower customers have access to the latest Wi-Fi technology. They can enjoy our best in-home Wi-Fi experience, faster Wi-Fi speeds, expanded coverage and support for all of their devices. Customers may be able to choose between DIRECTV or U-verse TV services.

The AT&T GigaPower network is currently available in over 2.2 million locations across 29 of the nation’s largest metro areas. The company has plans to expand the availability of ultra-fast Internet speeds up to 1 gigabit per second in parts of 27 more areas — at least 56 metros in total. Ultimately, AT&T plans to reach more than 14 million residential and commercial locations with fiber.

AT&T Business Fiber Internet
Additionally, AT&T's Business Fiber Internet service is already available to small businesses in parts of more than 180 U.S. cities, making it possible to download and upload at speeds up to 300 megabits per second.6 Certain markets, such as San Francisco, now have speeds up to 1 Gbps available over AT&T Business Fiber. It supports business applications, such as video conferencing, working in the cloud and disaster recovery.
