AT&T to Deliver U-verse with AT&T GigaPower in Cupertino

CUPERTINO, CA — AT&T will expand its ultra-fast AT&T GigaPower network to the city of Cupertino. The all-fiber network will bring symmetrical upload and download broadband speeds up to 1 Gbps, and AT&T’s most advanced TV services to consumers and small businesses.

AT&T is deploying additional fiber and electronics to the existing network in Cupertino to meet the growing demand for ultra-fast broadband. The network enhancements will enable customers to have access to AT&T’s fastest Internet speeds available to consumers.

Local residents and small businesses on the AT&T GigaPower network will also experience cutting-edge TV services with the ability to watch and record five simultaneous HD streams, and its largest capacity DVR with one terabyte of storage.

Supporting Innovation in the Community
“Cupertino is proud to be the first city announced in California set to receive the ultra-high-speed AT&T GigaPower network,” said Cupertino Mayor Gilbert Wong. “Cupertino is leading the way in creating an environment that fosters innovation, and the deployment of ultra-high-speed broadband service will further support innovation in our community, spur our local businesses, and result in even greater economic development in our city. We are very pleased to work with AT&T to offer this unprecedented service to our residents and small businesses.”

On April 21, 2014, AT&T announced a major initiative to expand its ultra-fast fiber-based AT&T GigaPower network to up to 100 candidate cities and municipalities across the nation. As part of that announcement, AT&T said it is also considering other San Jose areas – Campbell, Mountain View and San Jose as candidate municipalities for the service.

U-verse with AT&T GigaPower has launched to tens of thousands of customer locations across the Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth markets. The AT&T GigaPower network will also be delivered to Charlotte, Greensboro, Houston, Jacksonville, Fla., Miami, Nashville, Overland Park, Kan., Raleigh-Durham, San Antonio, and Winston-Salem.
