NORTH BAY and TIMMINS, ON - Bell Aliant is bringing its future-proof FibreOP network to two more northern Ontario communities: North Bay and Timmins. The company is investing $7 million to bring the network to Timmins where it will reach approximately 15,000 premises and $13 million to bring FTTH to North Bay where it will reach 20,000 premises, delivering the fastest Internet upload and download speeds, and the best digital TV experience in the market.

North Bay is part of Bell Aliant’s operating territory. Through its strategic partnership with Bell FibreOP will be marketed as Bell FibreOP. Timmins is also part of Bell Aliant's operating territory but is served under the NorthernTel brand. In Timmins FibreOP will be marketed as NorthernTel FibreOP.

As Internet use continues to evolve, more people are using multiple connected devices at the same time. With 100 percent fiber straight to the home, FibreOP allows everyone in the home to do what they want to do faster, and at the same time. FibreOP Internet offers download speeds of up to 250 Mbps, and upload speeds as high as 30 Mbps.

FibreOP also delivers TV with more than 120 HD channels, Whole Home PVR, the most HD channels on demand and apps like Facebook, Twitter, Galaxie Music, the Weather Network App and more.

Bell Aliant is one of North America's largest regional communications providers and the first company in Canada to cover an entire city with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology with its FibreOP services. Bell Aliant's FibreOP network is already available to customers in Greater Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.
