SUWANEE, GA - Benton Ridge Telephone, a rural independent telco in the midwest, chose DASAN Networks USA to provide GPON last-mile access equipment and Ethernet switches for its enhanced service offering.

Korea-based DASAN is a global leader in fiber-to-the-premises solutions, with more than 6 million ONTs installed worldwide, but it is a relative newcomer to the U.S. market. Benton Ridge Telephone, which operates as an ILEC in northwestern Ohio and as a CLEC in Lima and Portland, Ind., has been in business since 1902. It offers residential triple-play services including IPTV and is a full-service ISP, as well as operating a cable company and security services subsidiary.

Benton Ridge began its FTTH deployment by serving residential customers. For the expansion, which would include important business and institutional customers, it turned to DASAN Networks because DASAN offers GPON on a full Layer 3 switching platform and has a broad portfolio of GPON ONTs that range from indoor and outdoor residential models to Layer 2 Ethernet switches with GPON interfaces to serve business customers.

“We are the primary service provider to our market, and our customers depend on us to serve all their needs,” says Mark Miller, CFO of Benton Ridge. “DASAN provides us the right products for all our residential and business needs, and their support is excellent.”

Benton Ridge uses DASAN’s V5812 mini-OLTs, V5848 medium density OLTs and V8240 high capacity OLTs for its GPON FTTP network. DASAN’s H690 outdoor residential ONTs and indoor H640 ONTs are used to provide voice, data and IPTV to residential subscribers, while DASAN’s V2824 and V2524G Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Layer 2 Ethernet switches with GPON are used to deliver enterprise-class business services.
