BALTIMORE – Comcast Business announced that it has been named the exclusive network services provider for Betamore, a coworking space, incubator and campus for technology and entrepreneurship in Baltimore, Maryland. Effective immediately, all tenants of this burgeoning innovation hub can now take advantage of Ethernet services that can scale up to 10 Gbps of capacity to assist with their growing business demands.

Using Gigabit Speeds to Expand and Grow a city
“Our mission is to make Baltimore a leading global destination for entrepreneurship, where businesses, government, non-profits, and higher education institutions are all aligned under the common goal of expanding and growing our city,” said Jen Meyer, CEO of Betamore. “In today’s digital economy, a fast and reliable network is critical to that effort and is also why Comcast’s support as a trusted provider has been so valuable. We’re excited to introduce our members to all of the benefits that Ethernet has to offer, and look forward to continuing to work with Comcast on initiatives in the future.”

Located in the heart of the Federal Hill neighborhood of downtown Baltimore, Betamore’s mission is to stimulate the establishment and growth of technology-based companies in the region. Since opening its doors in 2013, Betamore has provided incubation, co-working, community events and industry-based educational classes and Academy courses to Baltimore’s most distinctive community of entrepreneurs, freelancers, remote workers and startups – all with the explicit goal of helping them better collaborate and network with their peers and jumpstart their companies to success.

1 Gbps Ethernet Dedicated Internet Line
As part of the agreement, Comcast Business installed a 1 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) Ethernet Dedicated Internet line that now provides the Betamore campus with fast and reliable Internet access capable of scaling up to 10 Gbps of capacity as business demands evolve. This Ethernet service will help expand videoconferencing capabilities between members and their offsite company headquarters and customers, improve access to the cloud for file sharing and storage, and expedite the transfer of large digital files for engineering and mobile app development.

“We firmly believe that Baltimore is the place to be for startups and entrepreneurs, which is why we’ve invested so heavily in bringing our fiber-based Ethernet services to this area,” said Peter Marsh, regional vice president for Comcast Business. “Having a reliable network infrastructure not only provides these companies with the speed and capacity to continue innovating, but it also helps them attract even more talent and diverse industries to the Baltimore region. We’re eager to start collaborating with Betamore and working with its members to bring their cutting-edge ideas and technologies to the rest of the world.”
