Blue Valley and ADTRAN Deliver FTTH in Rural Kansas

  • Blue Valley Tele-Communications (BVTC)
HUNTSVILLE, AL — ADTRAN, a provider of next-generation networking solutions, announced as part of its Enabling Communities, Connecting Lives program, it is helping Blue Valley Tele-Communications (BVTC) to advance strategic fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) initiatives to secure the economic future of nearly 7500 residential and business customers. Leveraging ADTRAN’s broadband portfolio, BVTC is taking a forward-thinking approach to reinventing its network infrastructure in northeastern Kansas. Based on ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 with Optical Networking Edge (ONE) solution, BVTC is building out both its access and transport networks from a single platform to more easily evolve, change and grow their network so they can deliver the services local communities need to remain competitive in a global economy.

As an early pioneer in deploying fiber-optic networks, BVTC has always understood how technology can enable the same innovation, growth and prosperity found in larger metropolitan areas for its rural customers. BVTC is committed to deploying network infrastructure that helps stimulate economic development, enable blue-ribbon education and provide access to first-rate healthcare. Not only are businesses in northeastern Kansas driving commerce growth via BVTC’s voice, video and data services, but local schools are participating in distance learning to better educate their students. The community is also benefiting from stronger medical care as doctors are now able to consult and share digitally transmitted medical data with colleagues around the world from the local hospitals.

Gigabit FTTH and Carrier Ethernet Service Delivered on a Single Platform
BVTC is accomplishing this through its partnership with ADTRAN and deploying its ultra-fast broadband solutions. BVTC replaced existing solutions with the integrated Total Access 5000 with one platform supporting both the delivery of gigabit FTTH and Carrier Ethernet service, as well as the advanced packet optical transport capabilities required to effectively carry those premium services. This allows the company to not only simultaneously support stringent cloud and mobile backhaul service level agreements, but also deliver advanced services, including IPTV, Voice over IP (VoIP) and high speed Internet at ultra-broadband speeds.

ADTRAN’s Enabling Communities, Connecting Lives program showcases how innovative technologies are being used in cities, towns and communities across the country to support economic growth, urban redevelopment, educational and municipal service support, and innovative residential service delivery. These communities are using ADTRAN’s world-class broadband, Wi-Fi and cloud service offerings to re-invigorate downtown business and residential districts, connect classrooms with other learning centers around the world, and help attract new companies seeking to relocate out of crowded urban centers.
