CENTENNIAL, CO — The city of Centennial has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the next steps in its Fiber Master Plan. Centennial is seeking qualified firms to serve as Owner’s Project Manager/Design Engineer. The RFP is available at the Rocky Mountain Bid Net System.

Council has dedicated $5.7 million towards the implementation of the Fiber Master Plan, including deployment of new fiber and backbone infrastructure. This Master Plan was developed by Magellan Advisors in consultation with the Fiber Steering Committee.

The Fiber Master Plan is the result of an extensive public outreach process through discussions with stakeholder organizations, including schools, libraries, fire districts, the Sheriff’s Office, local businesses, telecommunications providers and the City Council. The Plan provides a roadmap for the city’s future fiber optic infrastructure, guiding service improvements and enhancing economic development. The Fiber Master Plan includes capital and operational budget estimates, a conceptual business plan, and a recommendation of operational roles and responsibilities. The Plan lays out the potential benefits that a neutral, carrier-grade backbone could provide to the city and its stakeholder agencies.

The adoption of the Plan and dedication of funding means that the City will be beginning construction of this critical infrastructure in 2016.
