BEACHWOOD, OHIO – Champion ONE, a third-party optical transceiver company, announced the immediate availability of its new Next Day Dense Wave (NDDW) product line. This new line of optical transceivers, or pluggable optics, solves one of the most pressing problems related to building out dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) networks today - the availability of DWDM optical transceivers.
Today, telecom providers typically must wait between eight and 12 weeks to acquire the optical components they need to light circuits. With Champion ONE's new offering, regardless of the channel, telecom and datacom providers can meet their customers' needs immediately, whether they are turning up a new circuit or acquiring a spare. NDDW XFPs are offered in all the standard ITU C-band 50GHz-spaced channels, and all channels are in stock and available for immediate shipment – guaranteed. The instant availability of the Next Day Dense Wave product line will improve the bottom line for service providers by making them more competitive and gaining two to three months of additional revenue.
The NDDW XFP modules are suited for metro Ethernet, mobile backhaul and long-haul applications. Champion ONE plans to release an SFP+ version in the not-too-distant future, suitable for fast Ethernet, gigabit Ethernet and similar applications.
The Next Day Dense Wave DWDM hot-pluggable XFP optics feature digital diagnostics, also known as digital optical monitoring. This feature enables network operators to monitor real-time parameters such as optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current and transceiver supply voltage.
The Next Day Dense Wave optics are also multi-source agreement compliant and adhere to the XFP MSA standard, serving as a direct replacement for hot-pluggable fixed channel DWDM XFP OEM transceivers. This allows the use of fiber-conserving WDM solutions in standard switches and routers, eliminating the need for a separate optical transport device.
“Being able to turn up a DWDM circuit in a timely manner is a huge problem for service providers, and we wanted to help solve that problem. As bandwidth demand continues to grow at an exponential rate and 10Gbps services accelerate, the buildout of DWDM networks is a trend that we don’t see slowing down anytime soon. As a result, our innovative NDDW solution will help our customers meet their growth targets while allowing them to maintain the QoS standard that their customers have come to expect,” says Bob Cromleigh, Champion ONE director of sales.
