Cincinnati Bell to Widen Availability of Gigabit Internet

CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Bell, a provider of telecommunications and broadband networking services, announced that it will make Fioptics gigabit Internet speed available to more of its customers by the end of the second quarter of 2014.

Cincinnati Bell has offered gigabit data speed to its enterprise customers since May 2001. With more than 276,000 consumer and business addresses fiber-enabled by Cincinnati Bell, the company has a unique opportunity to give customers the flexibility and capability to upgrade speeds to meet their ever-changing technology needs.

$80 Million Fiber Network Investment

"In 2014, Cincinnati Bell is investing more than $80 million in our fiber network to support our customers," said Ted Torbeck, Cincinnati Bell president and CEO. "We are extremely excited to deliver the speeds needed to connect our communities and our businesses and to do so at competitive prices."

Fioptics gigabit Internet speed is currently available to select customers from Cincinnati Bell. This speed will be available to multiple tenant business units by the end of the second quarter. It will be made available generally to business and consumer customers by the end of the third quarter.

Cincinnati Bell is also expanding its efforts to support the small business technology community. "We have formed strategic partnerships with both The Brandery and Cintrifuse to help startup businesses gain affordable access to technology," said Dave Heimbach, chief operating officer of Cincinnati Bell. "Our Fioptics gigabit Internet speed provides a great foundation for accelerating new ideas, productivity and business development."
