EAGAN, MN - The City of Eagan and Frontier Communications have announced an agreement for Frontier to become the first telecommunications provider on AccessEagan, the city's wholesale fiber network. The agreement brings additional competitive services to many of Eagan's core business districts and adds the city's more than 16 miles of high performance fiber optic lines to Frontier's more than 302 miles of fiber in Dakota County.
"The City of Eagan's technology visions and strategy makes this partnership a natural fit," said Scott Behn, area general manager for Frontier Communications in Minnesota. "Not only does it significantly expand Frontier's capabilities to deliver Metro Ethernet services and IP services to the largest employment base in the county, but it gives businesses of any size the opportunity to have a new primary or backup broadband connection utilizing Frontier's alternate fiber path to the Internet which is not dependent on the usual Minnesota to Chicago Internet route."
"Frontier is a Fortune 500 telecommunications company with the expertise and scale to improve broadband Internet, phone and data security services for Eagan companies large and small," said Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire praising the foresight of Frontier for partnering with the city to extend its reach and service to customers."
