DENVER, CO — The City of Lucas Texas has selected Magellan Advisors, a broadband planning and development firm, to develop its fiber-to-the-home network design and financial plan, which will determine the best approach for the City to deploy broadband services to its community.

The goal of the project is to provide accurate and directional information to the City so it can make informed decisions on how to deploy broadband services to the community. Magellan will bring its decades of experience in real-world results of broadband operations to the City and use its financial modeling tools to assess financial performance, risk and conduct scenario analysis.

Financial Model to Project Long-Term Investments

Magellan Advisors will deliver a detailed financial model that provides city leaders with the items necessary to project long-term investment requirements as well as providing the knowledge and experience to advise the City on the inherent risks associated with the deployment of a municipal broadband network. 

Magellan Advisors has worked with numerous communities throughout Texas, including the Cities of Mont Belvieu, Dayton, and New Braunfels, as well as the Northeast Texas Distance Learning Consortium (NetNet) and its 50 rural Northeast Texas counties they serve. For the City of Mont Belvieu, Magellan provided its turnkey implementation services to plan, engineer, build and launch Mont Belvieu’s gigabit fiber-to-the-home network. After 2 years, Mont Belvieu’s network has a nearly 70% subscription rate and 100% of the homes and businesses have access to the network at 1 Gbps symmetrical speeds.
