Comcast Extends Fiber Services to Chico's Meyers Business Park

LIVERMORE, CA — Comcast Business announced a major expansion of its advanced fiber network to the Meyers Business Park in Chico, California. The new high-capacity network is expected to help Chico businesses, including manufacturing, construction and agriculture, manage data growth, drive application performance, and take advantage of data center and cloud services.

“Scalable, secure, high-performance network services continue to increase in importance for companies of all sizes. Comcast’s investment in the Chico area will help drive innovation in agriculture, construction and other industries in our region,” said Mark Sorenson, Mayor, city of Chico.

Supporting Meyers Business Park with 10 Gig Speeds
Comcast installed three and a half miles of fiber, both underground and aerial, from its existing lines to the business park and its 166 businesses. The high-performance fiber network will provide the businesses with Internet services up to 10 Gbps, which is critical for the site’s data intensive businesses. The expansion comes as a result of a more than $350,000 investment from Comcast.

“In order to effectively serve our customers, our business demands fast, dependable Internet service,” said, Rex Munroe, owner of Culligan Water of Chico. “Without the technology upgrade in Chico made possible by Comcast, we would not be able to increase productivity and support our growing customer base.”

Comprehensive Portfolio of Ethernet Options

Businesses in the area will now have access to Comcast’s comprehensive portfolio of Ethernet options, including Ethernet Dedicated Internet, Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line and Ethernet Network Services that provide Internet access, point-to-point, and point-to-multipoint connectivity at bandwidth that scales up to 10 Gbps. Companies will also be able to deploy Comcast Business VoiceEdge, a cloud-based voice and unified communications solution designed to help customers run a faster, more efficient business.

All of Comcast’s multi-gigabit Ethernet services are delivered over an advanced network that spans 140,000 miles across 39 states and the District of Columbia. Serving 20 of the top 25 U.S. markets, Comcast’s network features a 100 Gbps backbone and expanded local footprint through Ethernet over HFC. Bandwidth is available up to 10 Gbps and can be scaled in increments and offered in three different classes of service, backed by strict service level agreements and monitored 24x7x365 from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers.
