“Comcast expanding its fiber-based Ethernet network into Palm Beach County is wonderful news for local businesses and our economy,” said Economic Council of Palm Beach County President Daniel Martell. “The increased bandwidth and additional business services that will be offered because of Comcast’s investment in our community will not only help businesses already located here, but will also serve as an additional selling point to attract new ones to our already growing area.”
In today’s increasingly digital world, access to higher bandwidths is becoming essential for businesses to operate smoothly and efficiently. A Cisco study found that global IP traffic has quadrupled in the past five years and is expected to triple in the next five years. Comcast’s fiber-based Ethernet network is ideal for business operations that require higher bandwidths to move high data traffic such as video conferencing, streaming, multiple users on a Wi-Fi network as well as file sharing and back-up and cloud-based applications. In addition, this network is capable of connecting multiple locations of one company as if they were in the same building.
As a stand-alone service provider, Comcast’s fiber services can also be used by businesses that need a redundant or second network for enhanced security and to ensure file access, back-up and recovery in the event of a natural disaster such as a hurricane or power outage.
Comcast Business Ethernet Services has four unique service options:
- Ethernet Private Line: point-to-point connectivity between two customer sites for bandwidth-intensive applications
- Ethernet Virtual Private Line: point-to-multipoint connection to enable customers to tailor bandwidth, performance characteristics, and cost
- Ethernet Network Service: multipoint-to-multipoint connectivity to connect organizations with high-bandwidth requirements and multiple locations across Comcast’s network
- Ethernet Dedicated Internet: continuous, high-bandwidth connectivity between customers’ LANs and the public Internet.
- The Comcast Business Ethernet network already spans more than 145,000 miles of fiber across 39 states and the District of Columbia and provides high speed, high quality and high definition services to a number of large companies. All services are supported by dedicated project managers and monitored around the clock from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers.
