IRVINE, CAComtrend Corporation announced the release of the NexusLink 3100 series VDSL2 bonding gateway, which rounds out the company's portfolio of xDSL-based gateways. Comtrend has been an early market leader with ADSL2+, ADSL2+ bonded and VDSL2 products.

Brian Nickell, senior product manager for Comtrend North America, says, “With fiber deployment costs still relatively high, utilizing existing copper to deliver advanced triple-play services is increasingly important. VDSL2 bonding will continue to keep costs low for providers while meeting the bandwidth requirements for next-generation services.”

The NexusLink 3100 series will support high-power 802.11n, a Gigabit FlexPort and optional HPNA 3.1. Models include:

NexusLink 3101 – 4 10/100 LAN ports
NexusLink 3100u – Gigabit FlexPort, 4 10/100 LAN ports, 802.11n and USB 2.0
NexusLink 3100Hn – Gigabit FlexPort, 4 10/100 LAN ports, 802.11n, USB 2.0 and HPNA 3.1

The Comtrend NexusLink 3101 and 3100u VDSL2 bonding gateways will be available beginning in October 2010. The NexusLink 3100Hn will be available for customer evaluations in December 2010.
