Consolidated Launches 1 Gbps Residential Internet in Kansas City

LENEXA, KS — As customers continue to increase their need for speed, Consolidated Communications announced it is launching a 1 Gbps (gigabit per second) Internet speed package to all Kansas City fiber-to-the-home customers.

"Our customer's expectation for a faster Internet connection to enable activities like home-based businesses, gaming and video streaming continues to grow," said Michael Smith, chief marketing officer for Consolidated Communications. "The number of connected devices in the home is also growing exponentially; computers, phones, tablets, printers, game consoles and even appliances are all competing for bandwidth."

Symmetrical Services from 18 Mbps to 1 Gbps
In place since 2007, CCI's existing fiber network has long had the capacity to both support these applications as well as offer 1 Gig speeds. "While the demand is still relatively low for a 1 Gbps connection, this launch puts us ahead of the curve and lets our customers know that we have the products, services and bandwidth they need both today and tomorrow," added Smith.
CCI's fiber Internet packages offer symmetrical services from 18 Mbps to 1 Gbps. The new 1 Gig package is available for $69.95 per month with no construction or installation fees.

"We have the network, experience and people based right here in Kansas City to deliver the fastest, most reliable, high quality service," said Smith. "Just recently, we upgraded most Kansas City area customers here to a minimum of 18 Mbps at no additional charge. This upgrade and our launch of the 1 Gbps service demonstrates our commitment to delivering on our customer's expectations and being the local provider of choice."
