  • EPB Fiber Optics
CHATTANOOGA, TN — EPB Fiber Optics, which brought 1 gig speeds to Chattanooga in 2010 with its community-wide fiber optic network, announced, NextNet, a new 10 gig Internet service. Residential service will be available anywhere in EPB’s service area for $299 per month with free installation, no contracts and no cancellation fees.

Preparing for 10 Gig Installation
EPB will need to install a special optical network terminal (ONT) inside the home near the computer or network router. Customers will need to make sure their computers and other equipment (including wireless router) is capable of processing 10 gig speeds and be prepared to upgrade them if needed.

Technicians will make a pre-installation inspection to assess certain aspects of customers' homes including locations and specifications of computers and routers, the best path to run Cat 5e Ethernet and the best location for the special ONT box. Then actual installation will be scheduled.
